I left school at 16 and when to Art College for a 2 year course
to see
which area of art I was most interested in. At 18 I had gone to
university to study Surface Pattern Design by this time I had
passed my driving test and bought myself an old Morris, not the
usual choice for an 18 year old girl but as my grandpa had been
an engineer, my dad used to race MG’s and my brother had
a Dodge Charger when I was 14 it was no surprise that I had a
love for old cars.
When I was 21 the old Morris had been swapped for a Ford Pop and
I had got a degree in Design and my first job working in a design
studio doing textile design, by the age of 25 and after a few
more British classics I had moved on to a 1957 Chevy Bel Air which
was my daily driver, by this time I worked on my own cars and
decided to do a mild Kustom on the Chevy.
After 10 years of working for someone else (and numerous American
cars & Hot Rods) I went self-employed doing textile deign.
I had been around pinstriping ever since I started going to hot
Rod shows from an early age but it never entered my head to give
it a go! Eventually I bought a brush and some paint and it sat
in a cupboard for 2 years! Then I went to Paso Robles with my
husband Mark a few years ago and there was a lady striping there
and I thought “I could do that” and as soon as I got
home I started and haven’t stopped since!
My current rides are a 1949 Chevy Fastback and a steel ’32
five window Model B with a blown big block!
